1st Trimester spotting?

Hi. I am 8-9 weeks pregnant with my 4th child. I started a little bit of spotting on Friday. It stopped as fast as it started but then returned briefly on Saturday. Then I had it again on Monday. Today is Thursday and it has not yet returned. The spotting is only upon wiping and is a red-brown color (however on monday it was more a bright red). I have no cramping or have not recently had sex or a pelvic exam. I have called the nurse and am going in tomorrow to see the doctor. Meanwhile, wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if so, what was the outcome? Thanks!
