Is the guy I am dating just a non-talker or just uninterested in me?

ive been dating a guy for a month now. so in the beginning he did tell me that he's not really the chatty type & i was ok w/ it b/c i thought that since he's a loner, he's prob. used to not talking much. he also said the reason why he's not talkative b/c he is not a douche. so i got the hint that communication between us would be very limited & i was ok w/ it as long as we were getting to know each other. however now i am getting more comfortable talking to him and hanging out w/ him, i am starting to think that he's bored w/ me b/c he doesn't say much. its not like i talk too much. he does live a subdued life and he hardly laughs, just smiles here & there. dont get me wrong, he makes me smile but sometimes when i ask/say something & i see that he's somewhere else or he just nods, it makes me wonder if he's less interested in me or if he is what he said before, that he's just not the chatty type. i dont want to waste my time on someone who just wants me for the goods & dont care about having a conversation w/ me. but i dont want to dismiss him b/c he lacks verbal skills.
